Algebra and Geometry

P FUJII, Michihiko Hyperbolic geometry, Geometry of discrete groups I am interested in hyperbolic geometry and geometric group theory. Recently, I am developing the algorithm to compute the growth seriesof finitely generated groups by using combinatorial and geometic group theoretic methods.
P KAMIYAMA, Yasuhiko Topology My research interests are mainly in topology such as configuration spaces and mapping spaces. For example, I study the configuration space of a linkage and the space of holomorphic maps between complex manifolds.
P MAEDA, Takashi Algebraic Geometry Algebraic varieties defined by combinatorics, e.g. a partial order on the varieties of subspaces stable under a nilpotent transformation.
P TSUKUDA, Shuichi Algebraic Topology Homotopy theory of mapping spaces, configuration spaces and classifying spaces.
AP SUDO, Takahiro Operator Algebras Study on operator algebras of bounded linear operators on an infinite dimensional Hilbert space. In particular, study on the structure analysis for Lie group $C^*$-algebras and their nonocommutative dimension theory.
AP HAYASHI, Masafumi Probability Theory My research interests are in the area of stochastic analysis. I am interested in studying the existence and smoothness of the density of random variables that may not be smooth in the Malliavin sense.

Mathematical Analysis

P ITO, Masahiko Special Function Theory Hypergeometric functions associated with Weyl group symmetries: My recent research focuses on the topics about $q$-analog and elliptic analog of the Selberg type hypergeometric integrals.
P MANO, Toshiyuki Global analysis I am studying differential equations on a complex domain and Riemann surfaces, particularly the Painleve equations and monodromy problems of linear differential equations. Recently I am interested in the analytic theory of difference equations.
AP MITSUI, Kentaro Algebraic Geometry I am studying algebraic geometry with special regard to algebraic surfaces and fibrations of algebraic varieties, especially by means of $p$-adic analytic geometry and methods in positive characteristics.
AP SUGIURA, Makoto Probability Theory Stochastic analysis on large scale interacting systems described by stochastic partial differential equations.
P CHIHARA, Hiroyuki Geometric Analysis I am recently working on microlocal analysis of integral geometry, and tomography.

Information Mathematics

P KIMOTO, Kazufumi Representation Theory, Zeta functions (1) I am investigating the representation-theoretic aspect of the so-called Alpha-determinant, which is defined as a parametric deformation of the ordinary determinant. (2) I am also working to clarify arithmetic properties of special values of the spectral zeta function associated to the noncommutative harmonic oscillator, which is a certain system of differential equations.
AP CHEN, Chunhang Mathematical Statistics My research area is mathematical statistics, mainly nonlinear time series analysis. My recent research interests include the followings: Statistical analysis of financial asset prices with Jump-GARCH models Statistical analysis of occurrence risks of tremendous natural disasters with Levy processes, marked point processes and spatial time point processes.
AP HASHIMOTO, Yasufumi Number Theory, Cryptography 1. Study of primitive geodesics and spectrum of Laplacian on hyperbolic manifolds with trace formulas and zeta functions. 2. Study of public key cryptography (mainly RSA and MPKC).
P TOKUSHIGE, Norihide Combinatorics I work with extremal combinatorics using combinatorial, algebraic, and probabilistic methods.
